Proper Shaving Techniques for Men

Proper shaving techniques include using the right razor blade to get a shave that is as close to the skin as possible without irritating the skin. There are many people that are shaving incorrectly and therefore falling victim to razor burn and other disorders of the skin that can be solved with learning the correct way to shave their face.

Here is everything that you need to know about the shaving process:

First the skin should be moistened with warm water. Hot and cold temperatures of water should be avoided when you are shaving. These hot and cold temperatures can shock the skin and cause the pores to open making shaving difficult and causing irritation when it comes to shaving.

Next, lather the shave gel or cream and apply it to the face. This should be done in a circular motion to ensure that you are making the most of the cream onto the face. Shaving cream and gel should both be lathered on to the face in a circular motion and shaving bars and organic methods should be applied to the skin in combination with warm water to create a lush lather.

Next, it is important to know which way that you should shave while shaving the face. It is important to remember that while shaving the side of the face you should shave upwards and while shaving the area of the face close to the chin than you should shave downwards; this will allow you to get the closest shave possible through the entire shaving process. Knowing which way to shave can reduce irritation as well as providing a shave that is comfortable and effective.

Be sure to rinse the razor blade between each time that it is used. This will ensure that the clean blade can complete the most effective shaving job possible. To ensure that you are getting the best shave possible be sure to clean the blade between shavings and to replace any blades that have become dull. Many razors blades are now equipped with indicator strips that help to determine when the blade has become dull. These are often colored strips that will fade to white after the razor has been used a specific amount of time and therefore should be changed once the color has been lost and the indicator strip has faded to white. This can help to reduce the chances of cutting yourself as well as reducing the chances of razor burn.

After you have finished shaving, use warm water to remove any excess having cream from the skin and be sure to moisturize. Choose a moisturizer that includes sunscreen to protect the skin. This moisturizer should be applied, as shaving is a natural way to exfoliate and remove dead skin cells from the skin. This way, the moisturizer can be used to rejuvenate the skin while protecting it.
